About the Awards
TI-Kenya launched its 6-year strategic plan dubbed “Action for Integrity”. In keeping with this mantra, the strategic objective under the Citizen Demand & Oversight pillar seeks to promote ethical values, norms, and behaviour change among citizens, promote a culture of leadership and integrity, and support citizens to demand integrity and hold leaders accountable.
AWARD CATEGORIES
Youth
Integrity Award
Youth Integrity Award
Integrity award for actions that demonstrate outstanding integrity, deep personal accountability, and unwavering commitment in promoting good governance, integrity, transparency, and accountability in learning institutions, workplaces, online spaces, and society at large, from young people (18-30 years).
The recognition will include any of the following actions from the youth:
- Technological advancements and digital solutions that actively promote integrity, transparency, and accountability.
- Use of digital platforms (Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) to promote anti-corruption advocacy, civic engagement, leadership, and integrity
Whistleblower
Integrity Award
Whistleblower Integrity Award
Integrity Award for Actions of Integrity to expose and demand action on corruption resulting from scandals that rob our collective gains as a nation.
Recognizing individuals who made a significant contribution towards exposing and demanding action where there has been evidence of corruption, leading to investigations, prosecution, conviction, and/or recovery of stolen resources
Leadership
Integrity Award
Leadership Integrity Award
Integrity Award for Actions of exemplary leadership in recognition of responsibilities and conduct of leaders as espoused under Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Recognizing individuals who have shown exemplary leadership and standing in society, having not been in circumstances that would bring into question their being recognized for their particular action.
Sub-categories under this award are:
- Leadership in Public Service targeting individuals serving in public offices who demonstrate ethical leadership, accountability, and commitment to the public good.
- Leadership by ordinary Citizens / Wananchi: aimed at recognizing grassroots leaders and ordinary citizens who exhibit exceptional integrity, courage, and leadership in advancing accountability within their communities
Transparency & Integrity
Journalism Award
Transparency & Integrity Journalism Award
This category is nominated by the judging panel appointed by the Board of Directors of TI-Kenya following nomination by the Integrity Awards Board Committee.
Transparency & Integrity Journalism Award
Integrity award for actions from professional journalists as well as citizen journalists that meet established journalistic standards. The award will specifically focus on investigative stories that expose corruption, abuse of power, or misuse of public resources. Emphasis will be placed on the depth and rigor of investigation, originality of the work, adherence to ethical and professional journalistic principles, and the tangible impact of the reporting in promoting accountability or public awareness.

This category is nominated by the judging panel appointed by the Board of Directors of TI-Kenya following nomination by the Integrity Awards Board Committee.
Transparency Integrity Award
Integrity Award for Actions of Integrity, inspired by TI-Kenya’s work. TI-Kenya works with many stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability through various avenues, including civic engagement, oversight, and movement building.
Recognizing individuals who, through their interaction with TI-Kenya’s programmes, have made significant contributions within their communities to promote Integrity.

This category is nominated by the judging panel appointed by the Board of Directors of TI-Kenya following nomination by the Integrity Awards Board Committee.
Judicial Integrity Award
Integrity Award recognizing progressive interpretation and application of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya and other provisions on National Values and Principles of Governance by the Judiciary.
Recognizing individual judicial officers who have made significant contributions towards promoting the progressive interpretation of the Constitution to breathe life to provisions on National Values and Principles of Leadership and Integrity.
